IT’S A LOLLEY GOOD SHOW FOR HUGHTON

- Blackburn 0 Nottm F 1 By Lindsay Sutton

JOE LOLLEY had luck on his side when his deflected shot right at the death gave new Nottingham Forest boss Chris Hughton a win in his first game in charge.

Lolley saw his hit-and-hope effort from the edge of the box take a wicked deflection off the body of Bradley Johnson, completely wrong-footing

Rovers’ keeper Thomas Kaminski.

Forest’s nightmare start to the season was over as they chalked up their first victory in five league games.

In fact, it was their first win in 12 games, their play-off push falling apart at the end of last season.

But for Hughton (above), it was the first step on the road to recovery.

He said: “It’s good to be back – and with a win. It’s a real confidence booster.

“The players ran their socks off and that has to be pleasing for a manager. Joe Lolley has that type of ability. It took a deflection but you always look for a bit of fortune.”

Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray said: “We lacked intensity from the start. Everything we have done this year went out of the window.

“We had to change the team when

Derrick Williams and Joe Rothwell had to go into isolation for being in contact with someone testing positive for Covid-19.

“We missed their presence and we were down on numbers.”
