CLUBS FACE RESCUE OR BUST SAYS BOSS

- By Simon Mullock

SOME EFL clubs will go bust if the Premier League fails to deliver a rescue package.

That’s the message from a top Championship chairman, who feels the government and FA are powerless to impose a plan.

He said Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Oliver Dowden (above) had “no clue’’ when he said he could guarantee that no

EFL club would go out of business.the club chief said FA chairman Greg Clarke’s role was “toothless”.

The anonymous chairman said a lot of clubs were relying on their owners putting money in.

He added: “If that cash was to dry up, a number of clubs would be in immediate trouble.”
