Zero winks for nervous Winkleman
BY THIS time next week, Chancellor Rishi Sunak will have delivered his Budget – possibly the most crucial since the Second World War.
He must heed former Chancellors and business chiefs. No huge tax hikes, continued relief for businesses and workers and an extension to the stamp duty holiday.
Growth and entrepreneurship are the way out of this economic mire, not mean-spirited and punitive tax hikes.
Claudiawinkleman has admitted having hardly slept before her first show on Radio 2 after taking over from Graham Norton.
Speaking to listeners yesterday, the 49-year-old co-host of Strictly Come Dancing said: “Look, I’m going to be frank with you, it’s my first show.
“I slept for under six minutes, so I really only have one word for it,” she said before listeners heard The Beatles track Help!
After the song finished, she said: “Genuinely, any help would be excellent... Let’s do this!”
Claudia, who first joined Radio 2 in spring 2008, described presenting her new Saturday morning show as a “privilege and an honour”.
