The Swale Trail is a 12-mile waymarked route following the River Swale from Reeth to Keld.
Although not completely traffic-free, it mainly keeps to stone tracks and quiet roads as it follows the River Swale upstream along the deep U-shaped valley of Upper Swaledale. The final stretch descends through ancient woodland of ash, hazel and oak, passing the thundering waterfall of Kisdon Force.
