‘Navalny death plot: Blame Covid

- By Jon Austin

THE Kremlin has hatched plans to kill opposition leader Alexei Navalny in prison, including a plot to blame his death on Covid, a former spy claims.

Boris Karpichkov, a Uk-based former KGB and FSB double agent, says a message from a long-term security services source in Russia was sent to him in February warning that Mr Navalny’s death would be made to look like suicide, murder or even coronavirus.

In late January, following his imprisonment, Navalny’s team released a video showing a residence at Cape Idokopas, in southern Russia, which it claimed was constructed for President Vladimir Putin at a cost of more than 100 billion rubles.

Mr Karpichkov said: “I was told Putin was infuriated at the release, by Navalny, of the video footage of his secret palace.”

Latvian born Mr Karpichkov, 62, who says his name is on a list of Uk-based people the Kremlin wants to assassinate, claims to have received several messages from Russian security services

sources about Kremlin activities in the UK and other countries over the past few years.

A translated version of the message named three associates of Mr Navalny, two in the UK and one in the Baltic States, who were also Kremlin targets.

It said: “For all of them the command is given to wet [assassinate] everyone.

“With Navalny, however, they can wait until hype around him calms down.vovan [Putin] wants his blood for the tricks he did with the palace and then he will be killed by the hands of convicts.

“Or they will create such a state that he would ‘hang himself’.

“In any case, the order is given to do everything ... to make ‘the patient’ be ‘broken down’, to ‘shut up’ and ‘do not bark’.

“Everything will be done to achieve this, including his psychological breakdown and sophisticated mental torture.”

It added that another option considered was to administer a substance to make it appear Mr Navalny had died from Covid-19.

The message said: “It is known that the command comes from Vovan personally himself.”

Mr Navalny was hospitalized in August 2020 after he was poisoned with a Novichok nerve agent during a trip to Siberia. He was taken for treatment in Berlin.

He accused Putin of being responsible for his poisoning through FSB agents.the UK, EU and US responded by imposing further sanctions on Russia.

When Mr Navalny returned to Russia on January 17 he was immediately detained on accusations of violating parole
