And now we are six

- By Tony Whitfield

A BEAMING Princess Charlotte marks her sixth birthday today with this cute photograph taken by her mother, the Duchess of Cambridge, just yesterday.

Charlotte is known to her father as “Mignonette”, a type of flower which means “little darling” in French. So it was fitting that the little princess opted for a pretty floral dress for this special birthday snap taken at their Norfolk home.

The casual image captured Charlotte with a broad smile and was released, ahead of her big day, by Kensington Palace.

And Charlotte, the middle child of Prince William, 38, and Kate, 39, is the spitting image of her parents when they were young, as these pictures show.

Charlotte is fourth in line to the throne and was christened Charlotte Elizabeth Diana honouring her great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, and grandmother, the late Princess Diana.

The new photograph comes as William and Kate posted a video of them having fun at the beach with Prince George, seven, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, three, following their 10th wedding anniversary on Wednesday.

In a message they said: “Thank you to everyone for the kind messages on our wedding anniversary.we are enormously grateful for the 10 years of support we have received in our lives as a family.w & C.”

The relaxed look is a contrast from the photos which marked Charlotte’s fifth birthday.

In 2020, she was pictured with her family, helping to load a van with food and delivering meals for those in need, in Norfolk, during the pandemic.
