‘Time for real action on border controls’

-

EVEN the Prime Minister, for whom border controls have never been much of a priority, has finally realised the scale of the problem. “What is the Home Office doing? When are they going to sort this out?” is what Boris Johnson is alleged to have told a minister in Downing Street last week. He may well ask...

When the explosion in numbers crossing the Channel illegally began last year, there was a total media blackout on the issue.

I made it my purpose again and again to head to Dover and film the boats coming across, exposing the fact that UK Border Force and the RNLI had now become a taxi service.

They were literally helping the dangerous criminal gangs to get their human cargo safely into the UK.

More outrageous still was when I exposed that the French Navy escort the dinghies through French waters and into British ones, dropping them off for collection by our authorities.

In 2020, 8,400 people were taken into the processing centre in Dover, and they have now been placed in four-star hotels and private accommodation across the country.

My videos on this subject received more than 25 million views and I was pleased to have made a contribution in exposing the unvarnished truth.

But one year later, the problem has not gone away. So far in 2021 the numbers coming are more than

Hundreds of people continue to risk their lives every day trying to sail to a new life in Britain on small boats. The migrants are exploited by criminal gangs for profit and good weather conditions in the Channel this summer are expected to increase the volume of journeys attempted. Here NIGEL FARAGE, who first uncovered the true scale of the crossings, says the Government must take stronger action

double the rate of last year. If numbers by the Migration Watch think tank are correct, it now looks as though we are on course for 20,000 people coming through that centre this year.

Since the summer of 2019, when this problem first started, we have seen Home Secretary Priti Patel make many a public statement telling us that she was tough and that the crisis would end soon.

In August 2019, she said: “I’m doing everything in my power as Home Secretary to put a stop to these illegal crossings.”

Then, boasting of an agreement with the French authorities (we have now paid them £130million), in another press release from October 2019 she told us, “I am confident that it will lead to a considerable reduction in this illegal activity.”

Three years on, both of these statements appear far wide of the mark.

The Government thinks that by talking tough, somehow the problem

will go away. I am pleased to say that the national media are now covering the story, and that the pressure is on in a big way.

Ms Patel herself told the House of Commons last week that the public are now “fed up” with the broken immigration policies that have plagued our nation for far too long.

The truth is that we are all getting fed up with the continued failed promises.

In recent times Dunkirk, a holding point for many illegal migrants, has had one of the worst Covid rates in the whole of France.

A few months ago, through my sources, I explained that people with clear Covid symptoms were being landed in Dover.

For making these comments I was suspended from Twitter.

But the truth is now out, and a Border Force report this week confirms that Covid cases landing in the UK are now 20 times higher than the prevailing rate in the country at the moment. For the rest of us now stuck at home and finding it impossible to travel abroad, this situation is nothing less than a farce. People will not put up with it.

When you see pictures of women and children on the boats, don’t be fooled. Over 85 per cent who have come in this year are fit young men.

We know nothing about their backgrounds. The first job of government is to make our country safer and in this mission they are failing miserably.

It is time the British public were told the truth.

There is no returns policy in place with France, and despite Brexit we are still signed up to the European Convention on Human Rights.

Ministers can complain about lefty lawyers as they do, but they are the ones who kept us signed up to this legal mess.

In Australia a decade ago, Prime Minister Tony Abbott took decisive action to turn around the heavily laden boats from Indonesia and tow them back to their embarkation points.

Guess what happened? The boats stopped coming. We must take similar actions now or nothing will change.

So yes, we are all indeed fed up. We’re fed up with a Home Secretary and a Government that continues to talk tough on immigration while record numbers of boats continue to land on our shores every week.

The time for real action is now.the British public are watching.
