Feast of film and TV shows about big day

PREPARE to immerse yourself in a film and television blitz on Charles and Diana to mark the 40th anniversar­y of their wedding and the day that Diana would have turned 60.

At least four film andtv projects are coming our way. In the first, Charles and Diana’s 1981 wedding can be seen in high-definition 4K.

The new feature-length documentar­y on Britbox will mark the 40th anniversar­y of the ceremony, featuring “newly restored film” along with exclusive interviews with those who worked behind the scenes.these include chief royal florist David Longman, who met with Diana to create a bouquet fit for a princess, and musical director Barry Rose, who conducted the choir inside St Paul’s Cathedral.thewedding of the Century will premiere on July 15.

ITV brings us Diana, a 90-minute feature film onthursday, June 24, dubbed “the definitive story of the most famous woman in the world”.

TV company Spun Gold’s three-parter – Diana’s Decades – will show how the Princess influenced the times in which she lived through the people she met. “By delving deep into her relationsh­ips our aim is to provide a vivid portrayal of the woman who became known as the Queen of Hearts,” said Jo Clinton-davis, ITV factual boss who commission­ed the project.

And not to be outdone, cinemas are offering a fictional take on the wedding day, called Diana’s Wedding, due for release on July 21.

It’s a rom com about a girl – Diana – observing her parents’ turbulent marriage on the same day as Charles and Diana’s wedding.
