PLANT of the week
Aster Little Carlow
Michaelmas daisies are a welcome sight in September and October. Little Carlow is a bushy aster covered in small lavender daisy flowers. Its compact nature makes it a good choice for smaller plots.
Ideally, plant it in fertile moist soil in partial shade – sunshine is fine but you don’t want the soil to dry out as that encourages mildew.
Cut back when flowering is finished and mulch then or in spring.
