Age no issue for Ronaldo says Sheri

- EXCLUSIVE By Alex Wood

CRISTIANO RONALDO will be a major force in the Premier League for years to come, says former Manchester United forward Teddy Sheringham.

The Portuguese, snapped up by United from Juventus last month, penned a two-year deal with the option for a further year despite being 36.

Sheringham, the oldest outfield player to feature in a Premier League match at 40 years and 272 days, reckons the veteran will be able to maintain his form.

“I think he can keep it up,” Sheringham said. “Once you get past 36, with the ups and downs of the Premier League, it’s tough being kicked and getting yourself up for the next game.

“But he knows what it’s all about and how to score a goal.the main thing when you are 33 or 34 is to make sure you’re not carrying any weight and he’s definitely not doing that.

“He’s also not had any major injuries and he’s still got the desire. I can see him carrying on like this throughout the season, next season and possibly even until he’s 39 as well.”
