Greenwood can learn his trade from club legend

- EXCLUSIVE By David Sneyd

VIV ANDERSON expects Mason Greenwood to become even sharper in front of goal following Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival at Manchester United.

Striker Greenwood, 19, became the fourth-highest-scoring teenager in the Premier League with his winner at Wolves last month.

It was his 20th goal in 68 top-flight appearances, but as United have only two more league games before Greenwood turns 20 on October 1 – against West Ham today and Aston Villa on Saturday – he is unlikely to rein in the three sensations ahead of him in the list.

Michael Owen (40), Robbie Fowler (35) and Wayne Rooney (30) are well clear but former United and England defender Anderson insists there will be far bigger prizes on the horizon for Greenwood.

“Speaking to the boys at United, he is the best finisher at the club,” Anderson said. “He has the fantastic asset of being able to shoot with both feet and he has so much going for him. He is quick to go with his finishing ability but he also has quick speed of thought, and if can keep his head he will only improve.

“And if he learns from United’s new signing that will certainly be no harm at all. It’s an invaluable asset for a 19-year-old to be able to learn from Ronaldo every day in training.

“That has to rub off on a teenager still making his way in the game and should make him want to improve.”
