PEP’S FULL OF SORROW
But City boss stands by Leipzig comments
PEP GUARDIOLA finally apologised to Manchester City fans – but only for a dire performance that suggested he should indeed stick to coaching.
Guardiola’s midweek demand that more supporters should turn up at the Etihad was answered by 50-odd thousand voices.
But the champions were lucky to get a point against a
Southampton team that dominated for long periods.
City’s supporters’ club secretary told Guardiola he should concentrate on his team rather than question the fans after a 38,000 Champions League turn-out against RB Leipzig.
But last night Guardiola insisted he was shocked by the reaction to his comments and added: “I said nothing wrong after Leipzig. I never complained about how many came or didn’t come.
“I have never done that in my life.
“What we have to do is play better for the people who come here and to make them happy.when the game isn’t good I feel bad for them.
“I’m still shocked why people asked me when for five years they haven’t. So thank you for coming.”
