Bagnaia’s record run claims pole at Misano

- By Zoe Burn

PECCO BAGNAIA is looking to continue his dominant form as he leads a Ducati Lenovo one-two at the front of the grid for today’s Motogp of Misano.

Just a week after taking his maiden premier class win at Aragon, the Italian set a new circuit record as he stormed to his second pole in a row at San Marino.

Clocking a hot lap of 1min, 31.065secs with just over a minute to go, he saw off challenges from teammate Jack Miller, who ended the day second, and championship leader

Fabio Quartararo (right), who crashed on his final lap.

Bagnaia said: “It didn’t feel like a perfect lap but I feel great with everything. I think we are ready to fight.

“It’s difficult to predict a strategy for the race but I would like to start well, push from the start, see if I can manage a gap.

“In any case, I will try to be ready for any condition.

“It’s the second weekend in a row that all the Ducatis are in front in qualifying. For us, it’s great and it means more bikes in front of Fabio for the championship.

“We are working well, the bike is very competitive and we are making a good step every time.”

Despite his crash in the final moments of yesterday’s qualifying, Quartararo was able to hold on to third and will line up on the second row today.
