GEORGE: REVIVAL UNDER WAY

- REPORTING FROM STONEX STADIUM

JAMIE GEORGE says Saracens are slowly showing their true class and form but still need to step up again after they saw off Falcons. The England and Lions hooker was on the try sheet along with thevunipola brothers as Mark Mccall’s men celebrated their first home game back in the top flight with a bonus-point win.

It lifted them up to sixth in the table but George said: “There is a lot more left in us.we can, and will, improve.we were shocking last week and poor in the first 20 minutes here but once we got some momentum and cut out the errors we got the rewards.

“We need to be more clinical and accurate than we are at the moment if we want to be at the top but that will come with games.”

Boss Mccall agreed that his England men, dropped from Eddie Jones’ recent training squad, are being motivated by the desire to be in the team for the Autumn Tests.

He said: “They are keen to play well for their club and show Eddie they are in good form.”

It was Billyvunipola’s dive-over try from close range in added time which enabled the hosts to walk off with an extra point in the bag and a bigger smile on their faces.

Brother Mako was back to his best for 65 minutes on his season bow having had an extended break for his Lions exploits, while Billy showed his fitness and stamina with a strong performance for the whole match.

Former England full-back Mike Brown suffered mixed emotions having started his new Falcons career with a try after just 15 minutes but he was unable to stop his side slipping to defeat.

Falcons held a 17-10 half-time lead with centre Ben Stevenson also crossing for the visitors and Sarries forwards forcing their rivals into giving up a penalty try and hooker George Mcguigan being sent to the sin bin.the hosts took charge after the break with first George, then Mako surging over before Billy had the final say to leave Newcastle frustrated. Owen Farrell also kicked 15 points for Saracens.

Falcons boss Dean Richards was frustrated with referee Ian Tempest’s performance but praised debutant Brown and insisted: “Mike is still on top of his game.”
