Coleen Nolan

-

Blackpool-born Coleen, 56, found fame as a member of girl group The Nolans. She is a regular on ITV’S Loose Women

What was your first TV memory?

Me and my family every week sitting down to watch The Waltons... I think we identified with it because we were a big family living in one house too. We imagined it was us. There was always a “Good night John-boy” when we went to bed.

Who was your first TV crush?

Paul Michael Glaser as Starsky in Starsky And Hutch. My best friend liked Hutch and I liked Starsky. We both carved their names into the lids of our school desks.

What was your first TV appearance?

It was 1974 on the Cliff Richard Show, on BBC One on a Saturday night. We did the whole first series. I was nine, but the madness had already started because we’d been performing around the country as the Nolan Sisters since I was two.

What is your favourite current show?

Manifest, about a plane full of passengers who disappear mysteriously for five years. I’m behind on it, I’m only on the first series, but I’m really enjoying it.

Which TV show would you take to a desert island?

Something that hits all the buttons, but mainly humorous... so I’d take Friends, which is reliable, easy to watch, romantic and full of laughter.

What TV show would you like to put out of its misery?

Married At First Sight. It’s just ridiculous. Talk about taking the Mickey out of marriage. These are people who would do anything to be on TV, including getting married to a complete stranger. Why would you do that?

Guiltiest TV pleasure?

Rupaul’s Drag Race. My daughter loves it and I end up getting really hooked.

What are you up to at the moment?

I’m on Loose Women every week and my new book is out next week – me writing about how I dealt with marriage, divorce, dating, kids, menopause. I had so much fun writing it.

Live. Laugh. Love: Lessons I’ve Learned by Coleen Nolan (Constable, £16.99) is published on Thursday
