Foxes’ title allows Frank to dream on

- By Harry Pratt

THOMAS FRANK feels a tingle in the bones just thinking about Leicester City winning the Premier League.

According to the Brentford boss, the Foxes’ 5000-1 success back in May 2016 forever changed the world of the sporting underdog.

It was a major reason why he and his Premier League rookies even dared to dream about one day reaching the top flight.

Frank, whose side host the Foxes today, gets emotional simply discussing that moment five years ago when Claudio Ranieri’s men defied the odds to conquer the elite.

The Dane, 48, said: “I think in sport, we need those stories that the underdog can beat everyone because it gives everyone hope.

“Not just in the Premier League but it’s why, maybe, 22 of 24 Championship teams also believe and dream that with one good season, and a bit of luck, they can get into this magic world.

“I clearly remember everyone cheering for Leicester because we all wanted them to beat the Establishment.”

Frank cites Jamie Vardy’s rise from non-league hitman to Premier League Golden Boot winner as altering the entire scouting landscape.

The ex-brondby boss added: “If there’s a good story like Vardy (below) it drags your attention to see if there’s more interesting players down there.”

Meanwhile, Brendan Rodgers has saluted Kelechi Iheanacho as being his man for all seasons.

The Foxes’ chief singled out the

Nigerian hitman for praise after his goalscoring teammates grabbed the headlines this week.

He said: “From my perspective, his contribution doesn’t go amiss.

“He’s proven his worth to the club and the squad over the past few years.

“He’s our man for all seasons.”
