THIS will hardly register on the Richter scale of FA Cup shocks but Matty Pearson won’t forget it.

The defender, who started his career with Burnley’s bitter rivals Blackburn, headed the 87th-minute winner which deservedly knocked the Covid-hit Premier League club out.

Boss Carlos Corberan, back after Covid himself, said: “The first half was more balanced and in the second half the team were more brave.”

Jay Rodriguez gave Burnley the lead after a mistake by stand-in keeper Ryan Schofield, who was forced off injured. Sorba Thomas set up Josh Koroma for the equaliser.

EMILIANO MARCONDES sealed Bournemouth’s passage with a classy hat-trick as Scott Parker’s selection gamble paid off.

Cherries chief Parker rested almost all of his big guns and Danish midfielder Marcondes was the star of the show, putting his side two up at half-time.

The National League side were handed a lifeline when keeper Orjan

Nyland’s botched clearance was seized on by Joe Quigley but Marcondes sealed Bournemouth’s place in the fourth round for a third straight season.

Yeovil manager Darren Sarll hit out before kick-off, claiming confusion over Covid rules ruined his side’s build-up.
