- By Gary Fitzgerald

LEWIS LUDLOW hailed his Gloucester teammates as the England star crashed over for a crucial try in a memorable win.

Gloucester pulled off a first Premiership win on Saracens territory in 14 years to go into the top four.

And captain Ludlow, whose side had two men in the sin bin at one stage, said: “We never doubt ourselves.when we get in a huddle, we enforce those roles and last season we had so many scenarios of playing with 14 or 13, we can now adapt to it.”

Sarries could have won it at the death but, after Alex Lewington crossed, the conversion attempt by Alex Lozowski sailed wide.tries from Dom Morris, Rotimi Segun and Theo Mcfarland set up Sarries, who had England prop Mako Vunipola sin-binned for collapsing a maul.

But Ludlow added to first-half tries from Fraser Balmain and Jack Singleton – and in the end that proved to be the winner. Sarries boss

Mark Mccall admitted: “We are massively disappointed with how we played.

‘‘We were just a bit off and didn’t have the energy that we normally have, especially in the first half.”

● DAN BIGGAR kicked four conversions, two penalties and a drop-goal as Northampton thrashed Newcastle 44-8.
