-

Yorkshire-born comedian Maisie, 28, is best known for her regular appearances on BBC TV’S Mock The Week.

What was your first TV memory?

Watching Bodger & Badger at my Nanna’s. I was obsessed with the show – and Bernard’s Watch. I loved the silliness of Bodger & Badger. Bernard’s Watch had plots. Bodger & Badger was just some bloke who lived with a badger, throwing mashed potato everywhere. Incredible TV!

What was your first TV appearance?

The ‘cool’ answer is to say The Stand Up Sketch Show which was my first professional TV appearance as a comedian. However, I’d actually been on telly before because I went on The Chase as a student at uni. I did terribly and still haven’t lived it down.

Who was your first TV crush?

Zack Morris from Saved By The Bell. He had all those typical 90s crush features; gelled hair, baggy t-shirts, a cheesy smile. I think Kelly Kapowski put up with a lot going out with him, but you would because you’d be going out with Zack Morris.

What is your favourite current show?

I’ve just finished binge-watching all of The Handmaid’s Tale – it’s so good, and so dark we had to binge it alongside The US Office otherwise I’d never get to sleep!

Which TV show would you take to a desert island?

Modern Family. I love it so, so much!

It was one of those where when I finished it I was genuinely sad. I miss them, they’re brilliant characters, and it’s so well written – there’s not one bad episode.

What TV show would you like to put out of its misery?

Remakes! Any of them – even the good ones! It’s pointless and lazy; there’s such brilliant new stuff out there, with incredible writers making new and exciting shows, that it’s annoying when we get another remake. They’ve done it with Gossip Girl, Sex And The City, even Blankety Blank for crying out loud!

Guiltiest TV pleasure?

Married At First Sight Australia. It’s awful, it’s toxic, it’s completely ridiculous and against everything I believe but somehow I just can’t stop watching.

What are you up to at the moment?

I’m getting my new touring show in shape and I’m presenting on Scala’s The Classical Comedy Club.

Maisie presents The Classical Comedy Club on Scala Radio at 6 – 8pm tonight. She tours the UK this year with Buzzed. Info: maisieadam.com
