Rodgers is aiming to finish on a high

- By Neil Moxley

BRENDAN RODGERS says he can’t plan his future at Leicester City beyond today.

The Foxes’ chief says he is taking nothing for granted at the King Power Stadium as he looks to finish the club’s campaign on a high.

Rodgers was installed as favourite for the Premier League sack race last week after voicing criticism of his players when they were dumped out of the FA Cup by Championship side Nottingham Forest.

But the reality is that the club remains behind him – and after today’s trip to Molineux, Leicester have just four of their final fixtures against sides in the top half of the Premier League table.

That gives them the chance to markedly improve their finishing position.

Leicester are also doing well in Europe, thanks to a 4-1 win last week against Danish side Randers FC in the first leg of a Europa Conference League clash, with Wilfred Ndidi opening the scoring.

Rodgers said: “I’m not looking at where we might or might not finish – too much can happen for me to look at that.”

Last week the Foxes announced a £33.1million loss and Rodgers will have to balance the books this summer – if he remains in charge.

A horrendous run of injuries has hit the squad and the manager has been without first-choice central defenders Wesley Fofana and Jonny Evans almost all season.

Rodgers said: “We’ve not been able to catch a break.

It’s been like that for a bit. At times last season we had a really young back four.

“We’re not yet robust enough as a club to deal with that. Progress is not linear.

“So I have to accept the criticism.”
