MATCH RATINGS

- BY JOHN CROSS

JORDAN PICKFORD 7

Defence left him exposed at times and he made some decent saves from long range when called upon.

BEN 6 WHITE

Late replacement for John Stones. Caught under the ball on opener but was versatile and composed for most of the game.

CONOR COADY 6

Played in the middle of back three, barked encouragement and helped youngsters settle into the match.

MARC GUEHI 7

Went close to scoring in the second half. Solid enough in defence, showed promise for the future.

KYLE WALKER-PETERS 7

Good overlapping runs, promising moments going forward. Lively debut at right wing-back. One for the future.

JORDAN HENDERSON 6

Needed a big performance in an England shirt with so much midfield competition. Had a mixed bag.

CONOR GALLAGHER 8

Superb energy as he was constantly getting forward from midfield areas and also provided an assist.

LUKE SHAW 7

What a fantastic strike from the Manchester United player. Only his second for England, his first was in Euros final.

PHIL FODEN 6

Pushed right up to almost play alongside Harry Kane up front, and was always looking to link up. Good in flashes.

MASON MOUNT 6

Struggled to make an impact during the match, almost caught in no-man’s land between midfield and attack.

HARRY KANE 7

The Tottenham striker often dropped too deep to get on the ball but there was no missing from the spot.
