Day Tripper’s dream...stay at George’s pad
THE childhood home of George Harrison is set to open as an Airbnb for Beatles fans after it sold at auction for £171,000.
The Beatles guitarist moved into the terraced house in Liverpool in 1949 when he was just six years old, and remained there until the 1960s.
It was during his time at the house that George met Paul Mccartney and John Lennon, and the three held some of their first rehearsals there.
Beatles fan Ken Lambert, 48, from the US, bought the house at 25 Upton Green, Speke, when it went under the hammer with Omega Auctions in November.
Ken said: “I’m a big Beatles fan and George is my favourite Beatle.
“When the band broke up I followed George’s music and all the things he did outside the Beatles.
“I saw that the house was for sale in my news feed. It was on every platform – BBC, CNN, the New York Post. I decided to place a bid. I wasn’t necessarily thinking I would win.
“When I realised I had won, the hammer went down if you will, then I was like OK, it’s real now.the condition was pretty good, better than maybe people would think. It was totally vacant.”
The three-bedroom family home still has some of the period features from when the Harrisons were residents, including its bath, sink, some original doors, hanging rails in wardrobes and outbuildings with original decor.
Ken is keen to create a unique experience for Beatles fans. Guests will be able to sleep in George’s former bedroom. And the living room – where George, Paul and John rehearsed – has a retro feel with floral wallpaper and a guitar that visitors can play.

George growing up and the Fab Four performing during their early days are also dotted around the house.
From tomorrow, guests can book for a minimum of a two-night stay, with the cost ranging from £200-£300 per night.
Fans can also visit the house as part of Fab 4Taxi Tours once a week.
