Met ‘poster girl’ in Big Brother rap
A MET Police “poster girl” who appeared on Big Brother is alleged to have left her force-issued laptop with the show’s producers while she was inside the house.
Khafi Kareem, 31, was a contestant on the Nigerian version of the reality show in June 2019, despite being banned from taking part by her superiors. She was “evicted” in week 11.
She has since been on restricted duties with the force and faces a fiveday Met Police professional misconduct hearing which is due to begin in London tomorrow.
PC Kareem was photographed with former Commissioner Cressida Dick in recruitment drives for more female officers in 2018.
She said she had joined the force in a bid to improve life on her London housing estate.
She joined full-time in 2015, based in south London, after four years as a special constable.
She reportedly worked as a “spotter” at airports, looking for possible victims of female genital mutilation, before moving to the Met’s transformation unit, which is driving changes in the

force. However, her unauthorised appearance on the show, in which she fell for fellow contestant Ekpata Gedoni, 32 – a fashion entrepreneur – caused embarrassment for the Met. A public notice ahead of the hearing states: “PC Khafilat Kareem will answer allegations that her conduct amounts to a breach of Standards of Professional Behaviour.”
It added: “In 2019 PC Kareem requested leave to appear on a non-uk TV show.
“The application was reviewed but a decision was made that it was not in the best interest of the officer or the Metropolitan Police. Permission for the leave was granted.
“In June, PC Kareem left the UK and without permission took her work laptop with her. In July PC Kareem began participation on the TV show and surrendered her work laptop to the show’s organisers.”
Ms Kareem and Mr Gedoni remained in contact after the show. They married in 2020 and had their first child last year.
She was contacted for comment.
