Ryan’s derby high quickly put aside

- PRATT REPORTING

THE greatest night of his career so far, for sure, but Ryan Sessegnon insists now is not the time to bask in Tottenham’s glorious north London derby triumph. Yes,thursday’s emphatic 3-0 romp against ten-man Arsenal means Spurs are just a point behind their bitterest rivals and back in business as far as the top-four scrap is concerned.

However, just like his boss Antonio Conte is demanding, Sessegnon is adamant his mind is already set on sending relegationstrugglers Burnley packing at lunchtime today.

Asked where he ranks the sizzling success over Mikel Arteta’s men – and the incredible noise generated by an ecstatic home support – the Spurs wing-back did not hesitate.

Sessegnon, 21, whose three seasons in N17 have been hampered by injury, answered: “At the very top!

“It was my first north London derby since I’ve been at the club.

The previous ones I haven’t been able to play for many reasons, so it was very special.

“It was electric from the first minute.you could feel the fans pushing us throughout. It was a special atmosphere.”

Yet, almost in the same breath, Sessegnon, who before his injury struggles appeared nailed-on to become a senior England international, turned his attention to the visit of Burnley.

Win that and he believes it cranks up the heat on neighbours Arsenal as they do not play until tomorrow – with a testing trip to Newcastle.

Sessegnon said: “I feel like Arsenal still have the advantage. They’re one point ahead.we have to get that marker of winning, then it’s over to you.that has to be the mentality – it’s vital.”
