‘Stopping Putin is key’

DEFEATINGV­LADIMIR Putin will help deliver a long-term solution to the cost of living crisis, Liztruss will tell world leaders during a visit to Newyork this week.

She will also meet US President Joe Biden for their first face-to-face talks since she became Prime Minister.

Speaking at the United Nations General Assembly on Wednesday, Mstruss will urge the free world to remain steadfast in its support for Ukraine.

She will link the conflict to the cost of living crisis and soaring energy bills, setting the scene for the mini-budget to be delivered by Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng on Friday.

Mstruss will say that maintainin­g stability across the globe and reducing dependence on hostile countries for energy supplies will eventually lead to lower prices.

Reaffirmin­g the UK’S unflinchin­g support for Ukraine, Mstruss will describe Russia’s invasion as a “wake-up call” and urge all free nations to help the Ukrainians ram home the territoria­l gains they have made in recent days.

2020, and President Biden has also expressed concern about the ongoing row with the EU over the Northern Ireland Protocol.
