Corbyn to attack Sir Keir before conference
FORMER Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn is to launch a pre-emptive attack on his successor Keir Starmer the day before Labour begins its annual conference.
It threatens to overshadow the Labour gathering, which kicks off at Liverpool’s Exhibition Centre next Sunday, and where
Sir Keir is to deliver a keynote speech setting out his vision for Britain.
Mr Corbyn is the star speaker at an event in Liverpool where left-wing critics will accuse Sir Keir of “silence” over claims of racism and sabotage. It is organised by the Peace and Justice Project, founded by Mr Corbyn.
Called Act on Forde: Sabotage and Abuse, it will discuss the findings of a damning inquiry by barrister Martin Forde QC into Labour’s bitter factional battles which
found its election campaigns undermined by an “antagonistic relationship” between staff in its headquarters and those working in the leader’s office.
A statement on the Peace and Justice website said: “Forde highlighted a hierarchy of racism under Keir Starmer and criticised the factional abuse of the disciplinary system.
“The response of the current administration? Silence.”
Mr Corbyn is suspended as a Labour MP after claiming anti-semitism in the party had been “dramatically overstated for political reasons”.
Ex-labour MP Ian Austin, an independent member of the House of Lords, said: “Under Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership, the Labour Party was poisoned by racism and extremism and plunged to its worst defeat for almost a century. He should take responsibility for that.”
