FLYING CITY Goal in 53 seconds puts

- REPORTING FROM MOLINEUX

THE writing was on the wall after 53 seconds. At the end of 90 minutes, the letters were sky blue and 10 feet tall. And they read that Manchester City will still be the team to beat this season.this hasn’t been a perfect start by Pep Guardiola & Co but it’s been far better than any of their rivals.

By leapfrogging Arsenal to go back on top, the first clump of games have been negotiated with far less drama than by THEICRAPTION: Premier League title chaldlefnjggfejrgs.fkfg

Jack Grealish poked hodmfgehtghfeh opener, Erling Haaland addfeddghafdh second just after the quartedr-fhhogufrd and Wolves defender Nathfagndhfgdh Collins was dismissed 10 minutes before the interval.

A third for Phil Foden after a spirited response then condemned the 10 men to a final quarter of ball-chasing.

The outcome wasn’t harsh on the hosts. If you are going to set up your side for an open game against such opponents, then you have to bring your A-game. And Wolves are not set up to stand toe-to-toe with Manchester City and expect to come out on top.

City dominated possession from the kick-off and worked an opening down the right. Foden backheeled to Kevin De Bruyne, who whipped in a low cross. Haaland made a diversionary run and Grealish beat his marker for a goal on his second league start.

Wolves showed flashes but a neat triangle involving Grealish,

Joao Cancelo and Bernardo Silva ended with the latter setting Haaland off with the ball at his feet 35 yards from goal.

Home centre-half Max Kilman backed away from the Norwegian, who didn’t connect cleanly but his right-foot shot had the direction to flummox Jose Sa and make it 2-0.

Grealish was causing untold problems and Collins’ tackle caught him just below the rib cage. It was one of the season’s more obvious dismissals.

This sparked a response from Wolves, who are crying out for a natural goalscorer to finish off neat approach work.

All that remained was for Haaland and De Bruyne to combine again and Foden backheeled the third.

Grealish thanked Guardiola for standing by him after a below-par show in the

Champions League victory over Borussia Dortmund but the

City boss said: “I trust them all unconditionally. Jack is no exception to that.

“He scored a goal, he had a good performance. Every time he has the ball, he’s always taking on the full-back when it’s one on one. He doesn’t have to say ‘thank you’ to me.”

Wolves boss Bruno Lage said Grealish’s early goal floored his side. “When you start a game like that, you suffer,” he said. “Our team needs a focal point.”
