‘Love will rescue us’... Natisa’s song of hope

- By Jaymi Mccann

A UKRAINIAN singer plans to release her debut single on the first anniversary of the Russian invasion of her country.

Natisa Gogol, 34, awoke with her son on February 24, 2022 – the day Russian forces invaded – to the sound of rockets and explosions.

It completely changed her life. Within a few days she was forced to leave her home and head to the Czech Republic.

Natisa has dreamed of being a singer since she was five years old, and believes she was “born” to be a musician like Madonna.

But she had to leave Ukraine just as her music career was beginning to take off.

It meant giving up all the momentum she had spent years building – including her new album.

Now she is working with producers who write with Julian Lennon, and is releasing a single called A Wind Of Hope. The heartbreaking, haunting single is about the terrifying times her country is facing. Its lyrics ask questions about why such terror has befallen her country.

Natisa sings: “Tell me why they broke into our house/tell me why they tore apart our lives” and “Love will rescue us/ukraine lives in our hearts”.

She said: “I am very proud to be Ukrainian. I believe I was born into a very strong nation.

“I see my people as being positive and that is a strength.

“I do have a good time in my career but still my soul hurts with what is happening in Ukraine.

“The song is about hope and the nation and the situation.

“Even if it is very, very bad we are still hoping and have to believe in better things.”
