Shania Starstruck by her superfan impersonators

- By Tony Whitfield

SHE might be a Grammy award-winner but new Starstruck judge Shania Twain says seeing superfans impersonate her was a top career moment.

In the show, which returns to our screens a week today, members of the public are transformed into their favourite musical icons.

And the biggest-selling female artist in country music history revealed: “We did have Team Shania! It was so exciting.

“I was really flattered. It was like a career highlight.”

The Man! I Feel Like A Woman singer was also blown away by another unusual act on the ITV show – a caretaker serenading his cleaning equipment.

She revealed: “There’s a singer who is a janitor at a school and he sings to his mop. This inspires me to the fullest!”

Canadian Shania, 57, replaces actress Sheridan Smith as she joins fellow singers Beverley

Knight and Adam Lambert and comedian Jason Manford on the judging panel. Olly Murs will once again host the show.

Viewers can also expect impersonations of Frank Sinatra and Tom Jones, to Dua Lipa and Taylor Swift, as contestants vie for the top prize of £50,000.

Shania said she would do her take on American rock singer Pat Benatar if she were competing.

She said: “I like to rock and she’s such a fierce woman.

“It brings me back to my teens and thinking of being starstruck.”

Her fellow judges are just as starstruck by Shania.

Beverley gushed: “I love her.” Jason added: “She seems to know everybody. It’s just brilliant because it is all genuine.

“It’s not like crowbarring in a name-drop. This is just her world.”
