CONQUER after impressing boss No repeat of slips and blips vows JVP

- By Adam Hathaway

JACK VAN POORTVLIET promises England have fixed their leaky defence ahead of today’s match-up with Italy.

The Leicester scrum-half was guilty of one missed tackle in the 29-23 defeat to Scotland last weekend, when England let in four tries.

Defence guru Kevin

Sinfield this week insisted you can’t slip off tackles in Tests andvan Poortvliet (below) is convinced 82,000 at Twickenham will see a different side.

The England No.9, 21, said: “Some of us have worked with Kev in the past and he knows how he wants the system working, but others haven’t so it will take longer for them.

“We had a few blips against Scotland and there were too many missed tackles.we’ve been working very hard and the fans will see a big improvement.”

As for the England attack, coach Nick

Evans wants to see

Henry

Arundell unleashed today. The London Irish flier is on the bench, having played just 30 minutes of rugby since October.

Arundell, 20, scored with his first touch in Test rugby against Australia in July but missed the autumn series with a foot injury.

England’s Kiwi attack coach Evans said: “He is special, really special.any time he gets the ball he looks like he is going to break a tackle. He reacts on instinct, which is brilliant.

“It is all about him getting the ball in space and trying to create one-v-ones for him.

“These quality players are probably uncoachable in terms of how they feel the game and react to certain situations. Henry is part of that.”

Harlequins assistant Evans is contracted to England until the end of the Six Nations but won’t rule out a World

Cup role.
