Day fit for a King Charles spaniel as pet owners share their joy on Twitter

ROYAL fans – animal and human – took totwitter to share their Coronation joy.

King Charles spaniel owners flooded social media with images of their pooches dressed up watching the ceremony at Westminste­r Abbey. The Kennel Club posted a photo of one in a Union Flag scarf on The Mall with the caption: “We are celebratin­g the crowning of King

Charles.” During a street party on the King’s Road in Chelsea,west London, a King Charles spaniel named Duke wore a mini-crown, pictured below.

Meanwhile, Horseworld Trust in Bristol tweeted a picture of its “King” – Charlie, a rescue pony kitted out for the big event. It wrote: “Happy Coronation Day from Horseworld’s King Charlie.”

Salisbury was given a fetching crown by owner Sophie Moody, who said he took it in his leisurely stride. Goat Gruff got a royal outfit at the Helping Hooves social farm in Little Eaton, Derbyshire.

Capybaras, lemurs, red pandas and donkeys were treated to a special afternoon tea at Drusillas Zoo.the animals at the zoo near Alfriston, East Sussex, enjoyed cake stands filled with vegetables and teacups stuffed with treats such as carrots, green beans, grass pellets and even cockroache­s.

Keepers said the lemurs and meerkats wasted no time getting stuck into the party, with chaos ensuing while a cardboard cut-out of Charles looked on.

Jacinta Dawe, of Drusillas, said: “We are all so excited to celebrate the Coronation. Our animals are family to us so we wanted to make sure they didn’t miss out.”

But it wasn’t just animals enjoying the day.

Toby Joyce, of the 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards, tweeted on his way tothe Mall procession: “A proud day to be British.

“What an extraordin­ary effort done by all on parade.

“By far my proudest day.”
