Damian on mum Liz: We are like siblings
MODEL turned director Damian Hurley has made a rare comment about growing up with a single parent.
Damian, 21, has reflected on how his famous mother was so vital to his childhood.
Liz Hurley split with Damian’s biological father Steve Bing just days after learning she was pregnant.
And the actress said Damian enjoyed being at boarding school so she could continue working.
Asked about his childhood, his relationship with his mother and not a father, and whether he missed anything in childhood, Damian replied: “No. Mum filled the role of 800 parents at the same time.we are so close. Sometimes like siblings.”
The two are now collaborating on his directorial debut, a thriller called Strictly Confidential.as well as starring in the film, Liz is also a producer.
Damian admitted: “It was really great. I think mum is a very respectful actress, very respectful to me as a creator and director. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience – working with people you love is great.”
Liz said of her son attending boarding school: “Many people are critical of sending children away so young, but he liked it. He loved his school, he had great friends and for him it was a great adventure.”

that June at the age of 55, was a “good man”. She said: “He was a philanthropist at heart and when we were together, more than 18 years ago, I loved him very much. So I really hope people will retain fond memories of him.”
Speaking at the Marcel Remus Lifestyle Night in Palma de Mallorca, Liz reflected on her son’s desire to head to Hollywood.
“He wanted to go on set and learn and it made me nervous. But when I saw all the things he’s achieved up to now, where he is now – in his early 20s. He’s done his first film, that’s a big deal.”
Damian lives with his mum in the south of England. Her mother Angela is an important part of their business and regularly snaps bikini shots of her daughter.
Damian said: “My grandma is a great photographer.” Liz declared: “Is it a family business? Absolutely. Taking photos. A boring family business, but the best ones are from him.”
She recently spoke on the importance of supporting Damian on Strictly Confidential.
“Working together on this movie has brought us even closer together. I will also produce his next movie. He is young and the business is so tough.
“Screenwriters need producers who protect them like Rottweilers. I want to be Damian’s Rottweiler.”
Asked what advice she has given, she reacted: “To make sure that everything he does, he does with passion and that he is always stimulating his mind creatively. I told him to look for anything that will enhance him and to explore new things he enjoys.”
