NO MIND GAMES FEAR FOR GUNNERS

-

ARSENAL manager Jonas Eidevall says Chelsea will not provide a “mental obstacle” for his side in today’s League Cup final at Wolves.

Chelsea, who are bidding to complete a quadruple in Emma Hayes’ last season in charge, beat the Gunners 3-1 in the Women’s Super League just a fortnight ago.

However, Arsenal did see off the Blues at the Emirates in December and in this showpiece final last season.

Eidevall, said: “I don’t think there is any mental obstacle for us saying that we couldn’t beat Chelsea because we’ve done so on numerous occasions.

“The feeling is good – we’re courageous, we’re brave and we’re going after it.”

Khadija Shaw scored twice as Manchester City surged three points clear at the top of the WSL with a 4-1 victory at Liverpool. Three goals in eight first-half minutes floored Liverpool, whose only consolation was a late own-goal from goalkeeper Khiara Keating.

Lauren Hemp’s City opener on 16 minutes was quickly followed by goals from Jess Park and WSL top scorer Shaw, whose second after the break took her tally for the season to 19.

Rachel Daly salvaged a

2-2 draw for Aston Villa at home to a Leicester side playing their first game since boss Willie Kirk’s dismissal.

Leicester fell behind to Adriana Leon’s strike but hit back through Yuka Momiki and Sam Tierney.

Manchester City and England goalkeeper Ellie Roebuck has revealed she is recovering from a stroke.

Roebuck, 24, has not featured for City this season and stated on social media: “Thankfully, there is no lasting damage to my brain function or vision.

“I’ve had many weeks of follow-up tests, specialist appointments, and with the support of the medical team at the club I’m on the road to recovery.”
