As Saka bids for glory WE’RE GOING INTO BATTLE SAYS SON

- By Harry Pratt

HITMAN Heung-min Son has likened Tottenham’s clash with Arsenal to football “war”.

The stakes for both clubs could hardly be higher ahead of this afternoon’s North London derby.

Mikel Arteta’s visitors are desperate for a victory to stay in the scrap for a first league title in 20 years.

Meanwhile, Ange Postecoglou’s men know a home victory keeps their top-four chances alive.

Which all adds up to the fiercest of collisions this afternoon according to

South Korean Son (pictured below, celebrating with team-mate Pedro Porro).

The Spurs skipper said: “We can’t just think about it as our game – this is for the club and all our fans.

“It is at our home and it is going to be war – it’s a very important time and game for them.

“And it is for us.we want to make the club, the fans and us proud.”

Meanwhile, Ledley King has urged Tottenham players to forget the fact that Arsenal’s title chances are on the line.

The former Spurs captain reckons it is imperative the home side ignore all thoughts of destroying the dreams of their hated rivals – and concentrate on themselves instead.

For while the

Tottenham faithful are desperate to foil the Gunners’ bid to be champions, King insists Son and his side must not get swept up amid the feverish anticipation within the stands.

Not until they have done the business on the pitch, that is. Then they are welcome to celebrate with the supporters.

King said: “It’s more for the fans, the bragging rights, which we all understand.the players want to provide the fans with that feeling.

“But the motivation going into the game should be playing their best to give themselves the best chance to win.

“They have to stay focused on the task in hand.”

Ex-england defender

King, 43, added: “Arsenal won’t win the league if they win this game.”

Spurs came from behind to grab a draw at The Emirates earlier this season in a 2-2 thriller, which is more cause for optimism, according to King.

Talking at the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice in

Barnet, he added: “I was really impressed that day.”

Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice is the official charity partner of Tottenham Hotspur, and will be celebrating its partnership with the club at today’s match, live on Sky Sports Main Event from 1.30pm. Visit: noahsark hospice.org. uk/ to find out more.
