Boss Skinner but Spurs are spying and upset

-

relish walking under the Wembley arch for the first time this year, at the end of a campaign that has been even more different to the last one as United’s.

Indeed, Spurs only escaped relegation on the penultimate day last season courtesy of heroics from January signing Bethany England.

But since the arrival of manager Robert Vilahamn in the summer, the team have secured a top-half finish, playing a slick, attacking brand of football and are just one place behind United in the league table.

While Vilahamn admitted he “didn’t expect to reach Wembley” in the first year after taking the helm at Spurs, he believes his team’s swift evolution shows they are more than capable of holding their own against favourites

United and coming away with a memorable result for their fans.

Indeed, he sees this is a stepping stone to greater things for his side as they continue their progress from last season.

“They are the favourites because they have been top of the table for a while,” Vilahamn said of United.

“On the other hand, you can also tell that they are not top-three anymore. We played a good game against them and saw that we could actually compete against them, almost win.

“So, yes, they are favourites. They were there last year.

“But we are taking steps all of the time and we have beaten good teams this year. So we feel that we have everything to win this game and we believe we can.”
