Boiling noise is drastically reduced thanks to Dualit’s Whisper Boil. The two measuring windows will help you heat only the amount of water you need, whether it is a cupful or 1.7 litres. It’s £145 from John Lewis & Partners (johnlewis.com).

Cook up a great array of flavoursome meals and snacks with this tasty little gadget from Cuisinart. Simply flip the reversible non-stick plates on the electric griddle for grilling, searing or frying. The plates are dishwasher safe and heat up quickly, while the grill has a variable temperature control. An open, floating hinge makes the grill adjustable, too, creating a larger cooking surface. Cuisinart Griddle & Grill costs £100 from Selfridges (selfridges.com).
