Outraged by pal’s wedding outfit ban

-

I was surprised when my friend asked to see the outfit I’ve purchased for her daughter’s wedding – a tailored dress, smart jacket and fascinator.

She’s now sent me a text asking/instructing me to pick something else. Apparently, my ensemble won’t fit in with the cool, “boho” vibe and I’ll look “stuffy” in the photographs.

I’m insulted. I’ve given her daughter so much in terms of support and gifts and this is how I’m treated. How dare they?

If no specific dress code was mentioned on the invitation, then you should attend in whatever you’re comfortable with. If it’s going to be a hot day, in a relaxed setting, then maybe you will feel more at ease in a softer, freer outfit. It’s completely up to you.

Is this about the bride wishing to promote a certain image on social media? Reassure your friend that you have no desire to upset anyone. Have you been invited because your company is desired? Try and resolve this like mature adults.
