Sex matters

-

My mother-in-law has started giving me sex tips. She’s furious that I’m not yet pregnant. She’s suggesting sexual positions, ovulation apps and certain foods. She keeps suggesting that we’re not ‘trying hard enough’ by not having enough sex.

I don’t like her tone, which feels more bullying than helpful. This is excruciating. What can I say?

Thank your mother-in-law, then tell her you’ve now got all the information you’ll ever need and insist that she drops the subject.

She has no idea what’s going on in your bedroom and is being grossly insensitive. It’s not for her to tell you when to have a child.

Get your husband onside, too. She needs to be made to realise she’s upsetting you.
