How do endometriosis and adenomyosis differ?
Endometriosis is tissue similar to the womb lining found outside the womb, commonly found around organs like the ovaries and fallopian tubes.
Adenomyosis is endometriosis within the wall of the womb. It may not cause any obvious symptoms, but can lead to painful, heavy periods, and discomfort during sex. Treatment is often based on hormones that prevent further growth of the endometriotic tissue.
