Leg found in river is from missing mum
A HUMAN leg found in a river has been confirmed as belonging to a married mother-of-two who disappeared a year ago.
DNA tests have positively identified the limb as a match for Marie Scott – a 58-year-old mother who was reported missing by her family after walking out of her home in Hale, Greater Manchester, on December 18 last year.
Police, who retrieved the leg from the River Irwell in Salford on November 28 following a tip-off, say her family have been informed and there are no suspicious circumstances.
Greater Manchester Police Detective Inspector Simon Akker said: “This is an absolutely heartbreaking development in the investigation to find Marie, and her family are understandably distraught by the news.
“I know the devastating impact that this will have on them.”
