Grainger goes straight to renters
GRAINGER, Britain’s biggest listed residential landlord, is to increasingly bypass estate agents and use technology to recruit renters for its properties.
Investment director Andrew Saunderson said that it has invested a “significant” amount in its technology, which allows potential tenants to view and reserve properties using a computer or smartphone. As an example, he said that with Grainger’s £100million Clippers Quay development in Salford, customers can use them to take virtual reality tours using Apple’s FaceTime video call app. He added: “We will still use estate agents, but we are trying to increase the number of avenues we have to get to customers in the most effective and efficient way.”
Last week Grainger was one of three firms shortlisted by Transport for London (TfL) to build around 3,000 homes for rent for Londoners at 10 identified sites around tube stations.
