Downton Christmas do off
THE cast of Downton Abbey are so close they get together every year for a Christmas reunion, actress Samantha Bond has revealed.
But it was cancelled this year because too many of them were busy with the upcoming film.
Created by Julian Fellowes, Downton Abbey became one of the most loved costume dramas of all time.
Bond, who played Lady Rosamund Painswick and will star in Sky One’s The Queen And I on Christmas Eve, said she was still close to the cast.
She added: “The big joy was that not only did I already know a lot of the older members of the cast but also now having Laura Carmichael, Allen Leech and Michelle Dockery in my life is a blessing that I couldn’t even put into words. I adore them.
“Everyone’s been so busy this year. Usually we’ve had a Downton meal just before Christmas, but they’re all filming at the moment.”
Bond, who is not in the film, said: “The cast haven’t told me anything and I’m sure they are sworn to secrecy. But I have no doubt that they will tell me when I see them and then I’ll have to keep the secret.”
