Robbie Musical is next stage
Pop singer Robbie Williams is plotting a stint in a West End musical.
He wants to pen new tunes for a show, play the lead role and then train someone to take over when he’s had enough.
Robbie spoke of his plans ahead of launching a solo record and next summer’s 25th anniversary reunion with Take That.
But Robbie, 42, doesn’t plan to include his own hits, like Let Me Entertain You, in any West End outing.
He said: “I would like to write a musical…I mean, a l ittle run in a musical wouldn’t do any harm.
“I was in local amateur dramatic stuff. And I know the answer is it is hard work and I couldn’t begin to think about being the same character every night – it would bore me.
“But it would be nice for a bit.”
The dad of two’s solo album is due out later this year as part of his new Sony record label deal.
A source said: “It is a big 12 months for Robbie. He wants to show the world he can still do it as a solo artist after a good run last time, but wants to be part of the band wit h thei r big celebration.
“He had a great time when he last got back with the lads and this will be very, very special.
“There’s such a good feeling and kinship now between them that this is something he is truly looking forward to doing.
“The plan is to write some music for a new album and do a tour of some kind.”
