Swim star Isle beach is Outer this world
Olympic swim star Keri- anne Payne has revealed her favourite places to make a splash are the beaches in the Outer Hebrides.
The 28-year-old, who won a silver medal at the 10km open water event in the 2008 Beijing Games, has swum in some of the most exotic places on the planet.
But Keri- anne says the beaches on the Isle of Harris are among “the most beautiful on Earth” in a top travel guide.
The Edinburgh- based swimmer said: “Luskentyre and Scarista are especially stunning – with water so clear and blue, you’d think you were in the Caribbean.
“My husband David and I did a two-week tour of the Western Isles, stumbling across amazing lakes and waterfalls along the way, and this was our favourite place.”
Keri- anne also named Loch Lomond in her list of favourite places in the world for a dip, which also included spots in Barcelona, the Caribbean, South Africa and the Cayman Islands.
The star, who is heading to Rio after she won a place in the GB squad for the 10km open water event, told The Travel Magazine swimming in Loch Lomond “feels like floating in soda water” and “combined with wow-factor scenery, it’s otherworldly”.
Keri-Anne, a two- time 10km open water world champ, added: “I’ve dipped into it several times on the Great Swim and the water quality is astounding.”
