Still Game Mick feels the love in Craigfang
The actor who plays Still Game’s Methadone Mick has revealed he knew the character would be a hit when the cast were in hysterics the first time he flashed his smile at them.
Scott Reid has dazzled fans since playing the recovering drug addict who was given a new set of teeth by a dodgy dentist, played by Lewis star Kevin Whately.
Scott, 23, said: “I’d got my teeth cast and had seen them in. I’d tried them on and had practised wearing them and doing my lines but nobody else had seen them until the first scene where I had the teeth in.
“It was in the pub with the whole cast there. They were all in The Clansman. Then I chucked the teeth in, walked through the door and everybody burst out laughing.
“We had to go again. It took everybody by surprise and, when you see that reaction on set, you know t he y h av e w r i t t en something incredible.”
Mick has become so popular, he even makes a surprise appearance in Still Game: Live 2 Bon Voyage, which is playing at Glasgow’s SSE Hydro until Thursday.
Fa ns who buy a programme for the show get a set of Mick’s gnashers.
And he appears in a safety video before the show, telling people what to do in an emergency.
Scott, from Paisley, will watch the show next week. He added: “People have been telling me about the teeth. It’s a bit mad so I don’t know what to expect.”
