Malta love-tug dad is arrested in cocaine bust

SWOOP COPS FIND GUNS AND DRUGS Mum’s custody fight hope

The courts seem to have taken Borg Olivier’s side

A man fighting a Scottish mum in an international custody case has appeared in court after a major drugs bust.

Daniel Borg Olivier, 39, was arrested following a cocaine and guns seizure in his native Malta.

Borg Olivier is battling former partner Janice Dunn over their Maltese- born son Frazer.

The courts say the five-year- old has to remain with him until the case is resolved.

Borg Olivier was arrested by undercover police officers while driving with his friend, 48-year-old Ivan Xuereb.

When police searched Xuereb, they found he was carrying around £12,000 worth of cocaine.

A loaded gun and 49 rounds of ammunition were later found by police in Xuereb’s house.

Borg Olivier and Xuereb appeared in a court in the Maltese capital Valletta last week.

The Sunday Mail last year told how Janice, 43, spent nine months living in a budget hotel in Malta after being ordered back there in 2015 by the European Court of Justice over claims she had abducted her son.

She had to leave Frazer behind in June last year and return home to Barrhead, Renfrewshire, after running out of money.

Janice, who also has an older son, declined to comment.

A legal source in Malta said: “The courts seem to have taken the side of Borg Olivier in all this so far.

“Janice is now hoping that his arrest by police on the drugs charges will favour her attempts to get full custody of Frazer.”

Her case has been taken up by East Renfrewshire MP Kirsten Oswald, who has written to Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson in a bid put pressure on the Maltese authorities.

Janice lived in Swieqi, Malta, for 15 years, where she worked as a photographer, and met Borg Olivier in 2009, but they split in July 2014.

She returned to Barrhead with Frazer in Apri l 2015 but, two months later, she received a summons from the Hague ordering them back to Malta.

The mum is now a member of GlobalARRK, a network of parents across the world who are trapped in foreign countries fighting for custody of their children.

It is understood that since Borg Olivier’s arrest, Janice has made a fresh application to the family court in Valletta to get custody of Frazer.

Borg Olivier refused to give evidence at last week’s court hearing, which was adjourned to a later date so more evidence can be heard about the drugs and guns find.
