Lee, who started covering rugby matches for the Ayrshire Post when she was just 15, admits she is a massive fan of Roger Federer.
She said: “I don’t get star- struck but talking to Federer is always memorable. For me he is the ultimate athlete and an ambassador not only for tennis but for all sports.” Lee, who learned the sporting ropes from her journalist dad Bob, admits she has a lot of respect for Andy Murray and has built up a good relationship with him over the years.
She said: “People think because I am a Scot I am automatically an Andy Murray fan but, to be honest, I’m impartial and am delighted for whoever wins a match.
“I don’t pretend to be the players’ friend, I am there to do my job and capture their emotions in the aftermath, be they the winners or losers.”
The TV host is also looking forward to teaming up with her partner-incrime Clare Balding for Wimbledon.
Lee, who is planning to swim with whale sharks and visit her friend Eduardo Serio’s Black Jaguar-White Tiger sanctuary in Mexico when she gets a few days off in August, said: “Clare and I spent every day last summer together presenting Wimbledon and the Olympics for the BBC andd the Paralympics for Channel 4.
“We get on real ly wel l. She’s he’s become a good friend and has really helped me with my career.er. It will be great to be back together ther for Wimbledon.”
Lee, who made history in 2007 when she became the first female recipient pient of the Jim Clark memorial award foror her services to motorsport,p is looking king g forward to IGNITION,ITION, which retureturns urns to Glasgow from August 4 to 6.
She said: “I’m m really excited. It’s t’s totally unique for Scottish motorsport ort fans to get to see the l ikes of heritage age F1 cars drivingg on the streets.”
