He is, however, one of the most successful models ever to come out of Scotland. The teenager from Govan in Glasgow has a look which has made him one of the hottest properties in fashion, working regularly in the style capitals of London, Paris, Milan and New York. He has agents all around the world, magazines clamouring to get him on their covers and next month, he has four major campaigns launching including G-Star Raw – which saw him work with Pharrell Williams – Stone Island and DSquared2. At 18, he could be forgiven for going all Zoolander but his feet are grounded in Govan and the shadow of the shipyards. He said: “People in modelling see stuff in your face that you would never see in a million years. To this day, even though I have all these jobs, when I look in the mirror, I just see a boy from Govan. “I don’t see anything special about myself but in the industry, they know a certain look when they see it and to them it’s unique or special or different.” He is proving all three. At 5ft 10in, he is considerab­ly shorter than the 6ft 2in standard entry height for a male model and he’s not rippling with muscles either, which only makes him stand out more. Connor is the subject of BBC documentar­y Scotland’s Model Teenager, screened tomorrow, which follows him on assignment­s in Europe and New York. We also see him at home with shipyard worker dad Richard, 52, mum Betty, 52, a care worker and his soldier brother Andrew, 22, and sisters Denise, 33, and Morgan, 13. He is still getting his head around what has happened since he was spotted by casting agent Claire Catterson in 2015. She visited her old school Trinity High in Renfrew, to make a Scottish Government film about knife crime – One Knife, Many Lives – in which Connor was cast. After working with him, she contacted Michael O’Brien, boss of Scots modelling agency Model Team, and he wasted no time in signing up the teenager, who thought it was a joke.
