SNP TELL POLITICIAN TO GET ON WITH DAY JOB Tory suspended in bigotry row fails to turn up for a single council meeting
A Tory councillor who made bigoted comments online has failed to attend a single council meeting since being elected.
Alastair Majury was readmitted to the party last month after being suspended for making derogatory remarks about Catholics and likening the Nationalists to Nazis.
The IT consultant has failed to attend a single council meeting since being elected in May.
A spokesman for the SNP said: “We hope that Councillor Majury has taken time to reflect on his remarks and exactly why they are so unacceptable coming from anyone in public life.
“His constituents will be keen to see him return to work after this sorry episode and getting on with the job.” Majury is one of two Stirling councillors suspended by the Tories over the posting of offensive tweets but later readmitted.

His colleague Robert Davies posted racist tweets comparing black people to cannibals.
They were suspended in May, weeks after their election.
Ma jury, who represents Dunblane and Bridge of Allan, was also criticised by churches and the Boys’ Brigade, with whom he worked as a volunteer officer.
However, the pair were readmittedmitted to the Tories last month and tookk part in diversity training by anti- sectariantarian charity Nil By Mouth.
Scottish Tory leader Ruth Davidson, criticised for allowing the pair to return to the party, said they had a “genuine wish to change their behaviour”.
Majury refused to commentt yesterday but his party confirmedd he had failed to attend a singlegle Stirling Council meeting.
They said that Majury was suspended when two of threee full council meetings were held.
It is understood that Davieses has attended a number of council meetings.eetings.
The Scottish Conservativeses said: “Councillor Ma jury has been undertaking er taking the work of a local councillor by holding surgeries, meetings and attending community councils.
“He looks forward to attending the next full council meeting.”
The SNP and the Tories both won nine Stirling Council seats in May’s elections, with the SNP and Labour forming a coalition to run the council.
Tory MP for Moray, Douglas Ross, has also been criticised for offensive remarks.
He faced criticism for saying he would bring in “tougher enforcement against gypsy travellers” if he was PM for a day.
A Labour spokesman said: “The Tories
have repeatedly failed toadequatelytoadequately deal with elected officials who made inappropriate and offensive remarks.
“Sectarianism has no place in our society and it should be condemned by all parties.”
Alasdai r Tol lemache, Green councillor for Dunblane and Bridge of Allan, said: “I have been constant in my view that both councillors should have resigned.
“As long as they remain elected councillors, I will respect their position but will argue that residents should expect their councillors to hold and indeed promote fairness, tolerance and inclusive views.”
