It’s taxi for flop Pards

Baggies fans want their boss binned

-

West Brom fans demanded a taxi for Alan Pardew after a devastating defeat at the Hawthorns.

Four players were fined last week after breaking a curfew on a training camp and allegedly stealing a cab.

But yesterday al l the Baggies’ problems were on the pitch as thousands of supporters chanted “You’ll be sacked in the morning”.

Rock-bottom Baggies are seven points adrift of safety and have won only one of their last 14 Premier League encounters.

They went into the contest following a week of setbacks. Chairman John Williams and chief executive Martin Goodman were sacked and that followed the Spanish inquisition.

Albion were then knocked out of the FA Cup with Jonny Evans st r ipped of the captaincy af ter being involved in the Barcelona shenanigans.

Pardew wore a look of resignation after the game and said: “I think it is three wins in 37 games.

“It is a problem, we just have to find a way to win a game, however ugly it is. It was certainly ugly today.”

Evans was restored as skipper and West Brom star ted wel l without seriously testing the keeper. But three minutes after the break the roof caved in on Pardew’s flops.

Collin Quaner sent over a fine cross from the right and Rajiv Van La Parra guided the ball into the corner of the net.

Sixteen minutes later Steve Mounie latched on to Alex Pritchard’s pass and lashed home a second.

Boos and cries of “You’re not fit to wear the shirt” came from Albion fans but they had hope eight minutes later when Craig Dawson headed home sub Chris Brunt’s corner.

Brunt almost grabbed an equaliser but his free-kick was superbly saved by keeper Jonas Lossl.

Thrilled Huddersfield boss David Wagner said: “It wasn ’t really a six-pointer but it was a huge game for us and the players showed me everything – fighting spirit and attitude.

“We scored two wonderful goals and kept them as far as possible from our goal. It was a great result.”
